A number of social security recipients were awaiting the 2010 $250 SSI payment in lieu of a COLA increase, but unfortunately the Democrat-controlled Senate has rejected this payment by a 50 to 47 vote. The jobs bill, which contained the $250 SSI provision, was rejected despite President Obama’s backing was deemed too costly by lawmakers trying to allay their image of big spenders.
The badly needed Social Security payments would have helped 57 million seniors, a risky number to overlook considering the fall elections and how badly Democrats are viewed ever since the recession became a reality. Now that lawmakers have slapped seniors in the face the historical return is that this year marks the first time since 1975 that Social Security beneficiaries didn’t receive a cost of living increase. An extra payment may become a reality later this year if a new jobs bill is introduced to further extend unemployment benefits or the COLA provision in President Obama’s budget is approved

This is ridiculous! I would love to the the people who rejected this live on what we have to live on!!!!! Keep soaking it up Senate members! Karma will get you sooner or later!!! I needed that money to help fix my “rust bucket” that gets me from point A to point B. I expected the $ by the end of March which is what I had read earlier this year. The politicians, the media, and even the churches (I am clueless to where the “faith-based” money goes.) have no understanding or compassion for the poor. The poor are the ones who need to rise-up in this country and start a movement! We don’t want this penniless future with nightmarish subsidized housing and nursing homes that have been planned for us. Or worse, the mental institutions and jails. I went to a food pantry one time in the last two years or more at a church that received federal $s for their pantry. Mostly it was canned stuff (You know the kind with labels that you have never heard of before.) or expired food. I’m getting to the point where I would rather be naked, starving, and in the streets. My family has also abandoned me and taken advantage of me and my children. Finally, I’m a breast cancer survivor with multiple health issues. I get no breaks or vacations. I PROTEST and I want my $250. I am sick of the greed and evil. I raised 3 children and worked hard and educated myself. Just because I am on disability now doesn’t mean I want to be treated like dirt.
Does this really surprise any of you? The treasonous pigs can give billions of dollars to other countries every day of the week. But, because obama and his slimeballs despise America, they don’t give a damn about Americans.
VOTE EVERY TREASONOUS PIECE OF CRAP OUT OF OFFICE IN 2010-2012.
They can give themselves thousands in increases and deny us a measley $250.00.

I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THE PRESIDENT OBAMA WAS ELECTED TO HELP THOSE IN NEED. IF WE ARE ASKING FOR THE HELP IS NO BECAUSE WE WANT TO, IT’S BECAUSE WE NEEDED.I WOULD LIKE FOR THE PRESIDENT AND THE SENATE TO TRY TO LIVE WITH ONLY THE SSI PAYMENT FOR AT LEAST ONE MONTH.AND THEY WOULD SEE HOW HARD IT IS.WHICH I DONT THINK THEY CARE TO KNOW!!!!!!
I agree with the disappointment of not recieving – not only our COLA increase – but – also – getting Nothing now !!
Most of all – is not being informed of the decision that we won’t get it !!!
Obama made the statement that we will recieve it – but never gave us so much as a ” Whoops- Spoke Too Soon “, notice !!

This is sooo true. I am a mother of two small children, and only reciving 600.00 a month! That cant even pay my rent! Then, If you even try to get a partime job, they take some money out of your check. We live on month to month paychecks, My kids need clothes,shoes and when i get my check, it goes stright to the bills, and im broke!! If my son wasnt also reciving ssi, i would be able to live in a 2 br. I would have to live in a 1 br with 2 children, because we only get 600.00 a month!!!

“PG&E ” has an affiliate, ( I’ve Got It ) , that not only pays your gas & electric, ( I got $250 credit), but will replace all your ” energy wasting ” appliances (ie; Frig, Microwave,Air conditioner, lights, shower & water fixtures,toilet, windows- on & on ) for free, ha !!\
